4600 left front axle spindle housing

The saga continues! I am still working trying to get my 4600 operational.
I had a friend machine the spindle housing to get the new aftermarket spindle installed.
WOW, he did what I told him not to do!
He machined the top end out, so the new spindle would come all the way through instead of doing as requested (boring the middle section out to allow the solid shaft to pass through). Now the whole thing is at the wrong angle. I still don't understand why he did that.
Now I find out that no-one here has a used one available. (Watson, Fawcett, Innes, Lindsay, & Teeswater)
A 4000 is too small and a 5000 is too big.
Does anyone know what industrial model would have the same housing as a 4600?
I plan on checking with the machine shop my CNH dealer uses, in the morning to see what they can do.
PS A new housing is still available - $1600.00 CDN + tax

Brian,

Have a look at salvage section on external_link - see the bottom of their home page to access.

They have quite a few 4600's listed but none say 4600 industrial. Suspect they may all be farm tractors. Maybe the spindles are the same???

Brian...just a couple (or so) thoughts here...1600CDN is the focal point.

#1...Did the machinist "follow" the "angle" of the existing holes? If so...it seems to me that the reason your spindle is at the wrong angle is because is "flops" a little bit because of the enlarged holes top/bottom.

#2...what would be the cost of having some "custom made" bushings installed top/bottom that would take up the slack and put you back in the proper angle(s)

Maybe some others will chime in with answers and/or suggestions to "fix" your problem.

Good luck....Rick

"My mission" is to keep it original, so factory parts can be used.
I try to stick with original specifications, so the next owner can replace with parts as he/she choses.
I looked on flee-bay, found nothing.

My friend did not follow my instructions at all, but chose to do what I told him not to do.
I am very disappointed in him!
But, when some-one does something free you can't say much!
The reason the new shaft would not enter, was the spindle housing is bored slightly off from new, Ford relieved the spindle shafts to allow the shaft to go through. Grey market parts are not relieved so bind on the way through.
Due to using a loader, I want all the shaft material in place.
Now I have a very short area (bottom bushing will have to come back out) to try to pick up the bore.
I would still like to know if there is an industrial tractor that has a similar axle.

Re-read my post!
I tried all the wreckers, in fact, I spent 8 hours driving to Lindsay, only to find that the part he had was for a 4000, which I told him would not fit!
Sorry, if I am loosing my patience

Call Alexander's Ford Tractors in Winnsboro,TX and Rippee's Tractor Parts in Farmington,MO. They both have tons of Ford parts.

Brian,
The 4610 is the same, provided this is not a narrow or orchard version. Surprised that Fawcett's didn't have something. If you don't find one handy, let me know. There's a wrecked 4610 around here that impacted a Pete a couple years ago. I think the axle beams are good... If you're interested, let me know and I'll look into it.
Suspect you're looking at 40-50 bucks ground from here plus parts cost...

That is a great idea.
I'll check with the machine shop first thing Monday, to see what they can do - (welding it up and re-machining).
I will advise monday if I still need help.
Thanks
Brian

OK. Just keep in mind that you may need to wait for an off day on this end. Run off my feet right now.
