3 point dead on 3 cyl 2000

My 3 point went dead. Was working, but would take a few minutes to start working after being started. Been that way for a year or so.

I used the hydraulic ports to raise and lower a single line rake to work on it (I usually use the other tractor to run the rake). I lowered it without power because I only have one 2 way set of ports, so just bled off some oil. After finishing the rake repair, I started the tractor, raised the rake, then parked it. 3 point has not worked since. If I move the hydraulic lever on the valve, I hear the tractor load down, and I get some oil from the ports, so I think I have hydraulic pressure.

Guess I am going to pull the cover. What to check first? Is it the 3 point side or could it be the valve that is not letting the oil get to the 3 point?

Do I need to rig up a hydraulic gauge to test the pressure? If so, do I make a tee with 2 hoses to plug into the ports to test the pressure as it cycles back and forth?

Please make sure you have all the bolts out of the top!
This may sound funny, but bolts can be missed.
Clean the sump and hydraulic filters, replace the o-ring on the lift piston.
Changing your cam pin while you are in there is another thing you should do.

you are using external ports?? confused at your discription.. did you pull the diverter valve out and forget to return it? are you using external hydraulics and not returning the flow?

Sorry if I'm confused... Bill

I have a Tibco dual port valve on the top of the three point cover with only 1 lever and one set of ports. No diverter.

I am wondering if the 3 point function was going out and letting fluid backfeed thru the ports when I was working on the rake could have dislodged something to make the 3 point quit. The rake was used last year by me on my other tractor so I do not suspect any fluid contamination in the rake hyd system.

I was in the sump a year ago and it was spotless, with no gunk on the sump screen or the filter. Will check when I go back in.

How can I test the pump pressure?
