Golden Jubilee Firing Order

We are in the process of restoring a Golden Jubilee and it was in perfect working order - UNTIL - I removed the spark plug wires & distributor cap. Upon replacing (I had marked the cap for proper repositioning but failed to disignate which wire went to which position on the cap)discovered that the engine turns over but the points are not firing. Could someone please tell me how to replace the wires in proper order? This was careless on my part.

"engine turns over but the points are not firing." Points should arc/spark whether you even have a distributor cap on or not.........but that is likely a communications problem.

Order, Golden or plain Jane, is 1-2-4-3. Next question is probably, "where does #1 go?" We will await.

Points not firing or are you really saying the engine will not start because of lack of spark or lack of spark at the correct time. First off make sure that with the ignition on you can open and close the points and both see and hear a spark there. If you can not you need to either clean and or reset the point gap. 0.025 is correct for that.

Like JMOR said: firing order is 1-2-4-3. Number one plug is closest to the radiator. Did you replace everything when you re-assembled the distributor? i.e. Points, condensor, clip for rotor, dust cap,and the copper strip that goes to the base of the distributor from the points. If that copper strip is cracked or the insulator it goes through en-route to the coil is cracked,..you will get no spark. It would be worth the time to check it out.I sent a picture for you to look at to compare. I have the same tractor and same engine, just one year newer.
Good Luck

Thank you so much for this. As they say "one picture is worth a thousand words". This made it so much easier to understand. We will double check all the things you stated to make sure we have not done something wrong.

Again, thank you!
