3000 Water Temp Gauge

Where is the best place to drill and tap to install a manual water temperature gauge. I don't believe there is enough room where the stock 1/8" sender goes. Any Ideas? It looks like I can use the stock location of the oil pressure sender to plumb up a manual oil pressure gauge.
Thanks,
Rodney

Intake manifold, between the two front attaching bolts. Take the manifold off first so you know exactly where to drill it. I would drill and tap for 3/8" pipe.

I went ahead and removed the intake and to my surprise there is already a tapped hole to the water jacked from the factory. It is between #3 cylinder and the end of the engine. It is 3/8 pipe thread.
Will standard mechanical gauge fittings go down to 3/8". I know that they come with several adapters, but most automotive are 1/2".
Thanks,
Rodney
