3400 tranny in a 4500 TLB

I found a local tractor for sale that is a 3400 industrial with loader. He says its a 4 speed with high low. (4 forward, 4 reverse). The engine is seized but trans and rear are good. I have a 4500 with SOS I am getting ready to split and try and rebuild the SOS. I like the SOS but honestly would rather have something more simple.

Anyone know if the 3400 rear half will fit my 4500 front half?

Any issues with the loader / hoe frame fitting with this combo?

Thanks,

Jim

Hello Jimbo , Where are you located ? First there is no such thing as a 3400 Industrial it is a Utility tractor , just a 3000 with a non Adjustable front axle . Second yes it would fit but only if you want to spend all day just to drive across your yard . The 4500 needs a gear reduction trans to match the reduction rear axle you have in it, otherwise it would be like your S.O.S just slower than First when you are in high gear . The trans. in that 3400 is a Manual Reversing trans. 4 forward and 4 reverse not a high low 4 speed . I have the same trans. and rear axle from a 3500 Industrial with the correct wheel centers for 24 inch wheels that will bolt up and work and not be slower than death . I was going to use it to fix a 4500 with a blown power reverser trans. until I looked at the job and the tractor was not worth fixing it was worth more in scrap metal . I am in Mass. in you are interested call my shop 1-413-267-5087. Thanks Tony Jacobs
