3000 with a 4000 engine?

hello guys i gots me a question for ya my wifes uncle has a 3000 ford tractor 70's model anyway he says it has a 4000 engine in it . it looks just like my 1974 3000 . did he build up the 3000 engine or could he really have a 4000 engine

2000/3000/4000 shared the same block casting with minor differences in bore and stroke, so yes, its a simple change out. It could also be a 2000 engine in there as well.

thanks friend his old beat all to heck 3000 will pull my 504 superI roller just fine my fairly good lookin 3000 struggles bad with it i was just wondering

I would be looking at the weight. He probably has the tires full of water and or weights, both will do wonders for pulling on a 3000

I have a 3000 with a 4000 engine. I found out because I wanted to change the carb. 3000 and 4000 carb are diferent on the two. I found the numbers on the engine said 4000 and from the engine back said 3000. Just to be sure of what I have I dropped a dowel rod down one of the cylinders and rolled the engine around. It measure more than 4 inches. Has to be be a 4000.
