Hello All
I just completed a complete engine overhaul on a 1965 5000 diesel with a reputable diesel shop doing the engine work. Injectors were tested and injector pump (inline Sims) was overhauled.
After several hours of running, engine starts great, and runs smooth at all speeds and loads below 2110 rpm. With no load, above 2110 rpm, the engine starts missing and smoking with a max no load rpm of 2210. Under heavy load above 2110, the missing seems to disappear. My owners manual states that full load rpm should be 2100 with unloaded max rpm 2285-2335rpm, but mine will not run above 2210 rpm. Smokes enough that people wonder what is going on when it is missing. None of this happened before the overhaul, but I'm not sure what max speed was before. Any ideas about what is going on? Thanks JH
