Hello All- The standard 12" clutch in my '65 5000 was beginning to slip under load so I replaced the clutch disc, pressure plate and had the flywheel resurfaced and replaced the throw-out bearing. The part number of the new clutch cover is FE063CA and an internet search indicates it is supposed to be the correct number for this tractor. After attaching the clutch, I measured the distance from the fingers to the flywheel surface which is 2.030 inches. My IT manual says the distance for a standard 12" clutch should be 2.250 inches, (and the ceramic clutch distance should be 2.030"). I became suspicious but joined the engine back up the transmission anyway. The clutch linkage is too long and cannot be taken up enough to properly release the clutch. This is consistent with the release fingers being a lower height than what is specified in the IT manual.
Has anyone dealt with this problem before or have any suggestions?
And another question- is there a special type of bolt to attach the clutch cover to the flywheel?- I used grade 5 from the hardware store.
Thanks, JH
