'55 Ford 850 Hydraulic lift problem

Hello,

I broke my draft control plunger and had to replace it. Everything went fine removing, replacing and reinstalling the lift assembly. Now I have a problem. When I set the lift to raise, it raises fine. When I set it down, it just stays up. If I stand on the lift arms it will go down, but a few minutes after I get off of it, it will start to slowly raise up again. I replaced the o-rings on the ram, accesory cover and the two on the frame. I removed the lift cover and the accesory cover to see if the o-rings had been damaged and they are okay. I haven't pulled the assembly again to check the ram rings, but I kept an eye on them as I remated the ram to the lift cover and they stayed seated. Everything worked great before I tore it down. Any suggestions would be very greatly appreciated.

Mike:

Get an I&T FO-20 manual and precisely perform the draft and position control adjustments using the "alternative" procedures provided in the manual. If there are insufficient threads on the turnbuckle to perform the draft adjustment replace the draft control fork.
