4600 - golpher hole in block

Leaving this morning to look at a 4600 with a rod blown through the block.
Not sure what I'll find, as I don't have much information on it, other than it is a diesel, tin is in decent shape, good tires and he wants $1200.
I'll take pictures and "bring a deposit".

A rebuilt short block can be bought from Alexanders in Winnsboro Texas for less than $3000. That would make the tractor worth the money repaired.

Sorry, it was too cold and windy in that field to take pictures.
-14 and about 20K wind, I definitely was not dressed warm enough!
I thought the hours were about 8 to 10K,so I walked.
Tachometer shows 54** hours, it has been sitting outside for a while.
Motor is completely toast, single remote, 18.4 -30 tires.
Tires are fair, tin fair to good.
I have the number if anyone close by is interested.

Same here, but I'm not even remotely close. I even have a spare 3 cyl diesel that would go into it, and a loader to hang on it.

Can anybody tell me what year this is?
Not one 4600 shows up in my 2007 Blue Tractor Book.

I like to tell the seller what year it is.
Thanks in advance.

The engine was built on the first of October, 1979. Presumably, the tractor reached final assembly on the 30th October, 1979.

I changed my mind about this 4600 tractor.
I don't want to miss out on a good tractor, so, I am going to buy it.
I won't be able to start on it this year, too many irons in the fire.
