58 601 overheating

Hea everyone I have a 58 601 been overheating changed thermostat cant get off that cheap so then pulled radiator very nasty inside. Took to a radiator place they found many problems with it, so I guess Ill be buying a new radiator. Anyone know a good site for reconditioned radiators the radiator guy can get me one for 225.00 Is that resonable? Thanks for any help or opinions.
 
There has been some discussion in the past about after market radiators being of poor quality. Is the price quoted for the complete radiator or just the core? This site sells the complete radiator for $229.00, so your man is in the ballpark. If you can find out if it's American made or Chinese it would help in your decision. The Chinese radiators seem to have trouble cooling. If you do a search of the archives using "radiator source" as your query you'll find several threads that provide names of sources. Since your local radiator shop has to stand by his work, he may be your best bet. Ask what his guarantee is. Hope this helps.
 
Call Northern Factory Sales at 1-800-328-8900 to see if they have one for your tractor. Look for a part number on the old radiator as they may need it. Hal
 
Wengers has a reconditioned radiator listed for $150.00. I would think it is a older rebuilt radiator from the wording on their site. With the quality of the aftermarket junk it might be something to think about. They say there is a $10 core charge but it may be better to just pay that rather than pay for shipping your radiator to them.
 
Why don't you just have your local shop rebuild your rad? If the top and bottom tanks are good they can put in new rods and you're set. I had my local shop build 2 rads for me, they put in extra rods for extra cooling surface and it cost me $300. I liked the old rad in my Massey MF88, the tanks must be 1/8" thick brass? and that's repairable and better than any new aftermarket stuff.
