If it ran before It has to be in time. Did you replace the fuel filters and check the fuel outlet on the tank. Does the Dexta use an automotive type of fuel pump. or s it just gravity.

If you havent had the injector pump off of your dexta it would be almost impossible for it to be out of time, as the pump is a direct gear drive. You have incountered the problem that plagues Perkins engines with the Simms injector pump. The main problems I have found on cranking are 1. the manual supply pump is not putting adequate fuel to the injector pump. 2. The engine appears to be cranking over fast enough to start,but is not. Dont spray gasoline or starting fluid in to start engine , for most of the time just a small amount will burst the pistons on a Perkins
