aftermarket power steering kit for a Ford 4000 fit a 3000?? I"ve found a "used" one(never actually used, just opened the box) for $375 and was just was curious if they was interchangable? I don"t know the specifics on a 4000"s steering system or exactly where this aftermarket kit came, although I"m pretty sure it"s one of the $600 kits. Thanks. Casey

If it was a 4000 "SU" model, then the answer would be "Yes, it would fit". If it was a standard 4000, the answer would be negative. A 4000 SU is a 4000 tractor with a 3000 front axle.

It has the swept back, 3000, 600, 800, 8N, etc. style front axle. A standard 4000 has a straight front axle.

Today's Featured Article - What Oil Should I Use? - by Francis Robinson. I keep seein this question pop up over and over again in discussion groups all over the web. As with many things there are often several right answers and a few wrong ones. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You ...
