Hi I need to replace my solenoid on the tractor I have just purchased. It is a 1961 841. It has a 6 volt system. The solenoid has two large posts ( one that goes to the battery and one that goes to the starter and has another yellow wire with it. Then it has two small posts in the front marked S and I. The problem is I can only find solenoids that are three post for six volt systems. Does anyone know a good place to find the right one? The other thing since this tractor is new to me and I am more familiar with IH and ferguson tractors can anyone tell me where all the wires are supposed to go. The previous owner had a habit of rigging things. I have the top large post going to the battery, The bottom post holds the yellow wire and the starter wire. The S post has one connector with a red wire. The I has one connector with two red wires. Any help would be great.
Thanks Joe

Hi Joe, The solenoid you need is different from those used on cars. I've seen posts claiming these solenoids are available through auto parts stores. Maybe that's the case in rural areas, but not where I am. Any Ford tractor parts suplier will have the part, and so will some of the advertisers on this site. Good luck...Al English
