I HAVE A FORD 1000 THAT NEEDS A NEW HEAD, WHERE DO I FIND ONE?
ALSO I WAS TOLD THIS TRACTOR WAS A 1968 MODEL, FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND SO FAR THEY DID NOT MAKE THE 1000 UNTIL '73.
WHICH IS CORRECT OR HOW DO I FIND OUT FOR SURE?

Dont know where you could find a head,But,you are right about year built. Ford 1000 was built from 1973 til 1978. Had a 2-cyl.diesel engine. Made by a company named Shibaura. Serial number is on left-hand side of the clutch housing. Looking at my book. The s/n starts with a U and followed by six digits. You find the number and post up in the Tractor Talk ( I think its called ). I check that one almost every day. I'll be able to tell you year built.

Hi Chad

First of all I am not in any ways an expert, but since no one has yet responded to your urgent cry for help, I will give it a shot.

1. Find the seriel number for your tractor. This is a unique code which will carry all the info. There is a area here in this site which will tell you the year and model # etc. and how to find it.

2. How do you know you need a new head? If you do, there should be a tractor company near you which is a good place to start. Since this is still a fairly 'new' old tractor, my guess is that you will be able to find on very easily

Good Luck!
