Ford 3000 Gas won't crank

When I finished spraying last night I was hosing my Ford 3000 gas tractor off to cool it down and it died. Now it will not crank over. The two red lights on the dash come on when I turn the key but there is nothing at the starter...no noise, click or anything. The red lights do dim when I turn the key but do not go out. I did pull it to try and start it but it would not fire. Where should I start? Thanks

Last night I went home and was ready to start in but, it started right up although there was a little pause when I turned the key. The pause was about 2 seconds then the starter engaged and it started. I assume something is getting ready to fail. What is the likely part? Doesn't the solenoid sometimes fail when it is hot and will function when it cools? Thanks for all your suggestions.

That's a possible but I'm guessing there was just water someplace that it didn't like. I'd see if it's ok or not before throwing any parts at it.
Good Luck, Lee

That's a really wide open question. I'd look at the starter solenoid first from your description of the problem. It may have been hot and cracked or otherwise self-destructed when hit with cold water. from there I'd just start working my way through the electrical connections from the battery to ground, battery to solenoid, wires to and from keyswitch, connections between solenoid and starter, solenoid and keyswitch etc., etc.
I hope this helps but it's hard to guess where it got wet or cracked something that was hot or what ever it did. Good Luck, Lee
