I recently purchased a Ford 901 Select-O-Speed.
Gears R2,3,4,7,8,10 work.
Gears R1,1,2,5,6,9 don't work.
According to the SOS diagnostic chart on the Vintage Tractors site, this condition means that the "overriding clutch does not apply". The only reason cited for this condition is the "overriding clutch is inoperative."
Can someone tell me what's involved in repairing this condition? Are "overriding clutch" parts - or unit - available? From Ford/New Holland? Others?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The first thing you have to do is to do a pressure check on the system. This will give you an idea where the problem lies. It could also be incorrect fluid in the trans.. I have a 901 that didn't have the Ford fluid in it and 3,4,7,8,10 didn't work. I would do the pressure check first because the fluid from Ford is about $60 cto change good luck

Today's Featured Article - A City Guy's First Tractor - by Fred Hambrecht. After living in apartments in Atlanta for more years than I care to remember, the wife and I decided to move to the country. Humming "Green Acres is the place for me..." we purchased a 29 acre tract about 60 miles south of Atlanta. Next came the house, I could talk about that ordeal for another two weeks... But, I want to talk about my tractor! We didn't even own a lawnmower, and all of a sudden we had enough grass to feed all the starving children of the bovine world. Naturally, I talked ...
