A friend of mine has the following farm tractor.

- 1966 FORD
- Model: 5000 4 cyl. Diesel
- It is painted blue (if that helps)

He is looking for any tune-up information for the engine, specifically the timing value for the engine.

Can anyone supply me the the value, or at least point me in the right direction of where to look.

The factory spec is 19 degrees BTDC. However, due to internal wear in the pump which is generally present in a pump that old, I usually set them to 21-22.

Internal wear can best be checked by spill timing the pump and comparing that against the factory pump reference marks. If that doesn't sound like a process you want to go through, then I'd just shoot for 21-22 and go for it. Don't go any higher than that though.

Is there a Ford 5000 tractor that has a 6cyl motor that was made here in states or over seas.Would like to know. Was there a gas motor used that was 6cyl. Is there a tractor today that still uses the same rearend.
