Since I converted my 671 S.O.S. to 12V I had rigged up a switch on the selector lever. I could not figure out how to use the original neutral start switch in the transmission. It only has one wire extending through the trans. cover. I thought since this tractor was sold in a diesel version with 12V system I could purchase a switch and harness with two wire and trans. cover gromet. Book shows that same switch used for all models. Looking for suggestion as I don't like my external neutral start set up.

I know this is an old post and has probably been figured out by now,but I will try to help anyway. If this setup is the same as a Jubilee, and I strongly suspect it is, all you need is a 30A relay.(usually made by Bosh, available at the parts stores for about 2$) It has been stated that the original starter switch uses the ground to engage the starter. That is correct. All you have to do is run the switch control wire to the relay and then use an interrupted ground for the relay. Kind of hard to explain over the computer and w/o looking at it but I did it to mine when I converted and it only took about 5 min to wire up. Hope I put you in the right direction though.

Yes, I did not like the way the neutral switch worked. I did not like the fact of not really knowing what gear you were in until it started. I have the same switch you have, and wired it to a light on the instrument panel, so light comes on when in park. PS I will crank in any gear.

The original nutral start switch uses ground to activate the solonoid. NAPA can supply the proper solonoid and it uses only the one wire. good luck

Thanks Buck, That makes sense. I'll check my NAPA guy tomorrow. Since I currently have a key starter I assume I will need to go back to a key switch with a separate starter switch as was original. Then use the starter switch to complete the circuit to the starter relay when the trans. switch is closed causing ground. Am I on the right track?

On the right track. First check the wire from trans with trouble light and make sure it functons --trans is ground. If this is functional then either a key switch with start function or a seperate start button should work. All this correct then select the proper stater relay. good luck
