Help a newbie! TE20 3 point not working

Hello everyone, I just bought 2 TE20 Fergusons, (not running). I fired up one of them today, and the 3 point hitch doesn't lift when I move the lever. Where do I start looking to figure out what's wrong? Rob

Is it in gear? The lever on the left beside the seat needs to be pushed back.
Does the PTO turn? If it is engaged and it doesn't lift it could be out of fluid. Check using the dipstick on the right under the seat.

Thanks for the help. I didn't know a lever had to be engaged to make the 3 point work. Is that the PTO lever as well? Rob

Yes, the same lever engages both the PTO and the lift arms.
Then, once that is engaged and the clutch pedal released, the arms are controlled up or down by the lever on the right.

There is a lever near your left foot that engages the PTO AND the hydraulic pump. Make sure that the pto is engaged. Then pull up on the lift lever. If the systems works, the lift arm will rise.

If the PTO Lever is in drive (pushed rear-wards) and the Hydraulic lever is at the top of the quadrant, the hydraulics should lift, if they don't then the Control valve may be stuck. Remove the Right side round plate below the seat. You will see two legs of the Control Fork hanging down from the top and disappearing into the oil. with the Engine and the PTO running, use a long screwdriver and move the Control Fork back-wards and forwards a couple of times to move the Valve. When you do this the 3 point should rise and fall, if it doesn't then stop the Engine, now feel in the bottom of the oil following the Fork legs to the bottom, the Control valve should be attached with a bar between the two legs, if it isn't, you need to open the legs slightly so that the bar will fit. If the legs are a bit wide and will allow the bar to come out again then the legs need to be squeezed together slightly, you will need to remove the opposite round cover as well so that you can push the legs together gently. If you would like the whole procedure written out for you just email me direct and I will send it..John(K)[email protected]
DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE OIL IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING

(quoted from post at 17:35:30 06/07/12) yes same lever
Thanks very much to all of you for the help. After engaging the PTO the 3 point hitch raised and lowered, much to my relief.
