Got my lift pump rebuild kit have some questions.

Once again I posted this on the MF forum with no responses so I'll try here as well. The tractor is a 202 MF but the pump is the same as a 35.

I am pretty sure I ordered the correct kit for my hydraulic pump based on comparison with the parts list on acgo parts books website. I'm proud to say it is a truly multicultural kit, parts from China, Turkey and the UK are used to make up the kit. The kit arrived yesterday and I was comparing some of the parts and there are some differences.
The original cam blocks have holes on either side and the new ones do not .

The other difference is the original pistons have 3 grooves and no rings and the new pistons have one groove with a ring. I'm guessing this is an upgrade over the non ringed type.

The pistons aren't concerning me too much but the cam blocks are a bit more of a concern at this point. What are your thoughts?

The Pistons are as you thought, the Multi-groove type have no rings and are smaller diameter, the single grove type does have rings and this gives a positive displacement, plus they are a larger diameter which gives a greater oil flow.
The Cam Blocks, should have holes and grooves in them like the original type, this will then allow oil to get to the Camshaft surfaces, without them the extra load could mean that the Brass Bearing could "Pick-up" on the Cam or at the very least badly score it. If you check the clearance between the Brass Bush and the camshaft. If there is enough clearance (not a tight fit) then you may find that there will be enough lubrication, but there are too many "buts" for my liking...not a good thing to have to use. I suppose if the worst came to the worst, you could alter the new Bushes, cut a groove and drill a hole each side, that would cure it I would think...John(UK)[email protected]

I don't really have the means to cut the grooves without the chance of weakening the blocks. I will check the clearances. Once submerged in fluid I would think it should be ok. I can't see why else they would sell cam blocks without the holes.

My only other concern right now is that I can rotate the pistons slightly in their bore. I am guessing this is ok as the old ones show some wear where the rubbed on the cam follower.
Now I'm fighting with getting the 3pt hitch apart and cleaned up. Looks as though it has never been used in it's 50+ years as the backhoe has always been in place.
