My father tried to adjust the clutch on his Ferguson 28 but when he turned the centre bolt, I understand everything went limp. He's told me if he keeps turning the centre bolt, the clutch doesn't come back to operation, the bolt just keeps turning until it stops with no resistance. Can anyone please help.

Never heard the term "Ferguson 28" in Australia. He's in New Zealand so 99% chance it will be a Ferguson TEA20.

I can't work out which is the "center bolt"??

The only adjustment is on the clutch pedal. free movement of the pedal should be 3/4 inch, taken between the upper side of the pedal and the underside of the footrest bracket.

You need to hold the upper bolt (a spring-loaded, square one) steady as you adjust the centre bolt. Otherwise, everything will indeed appear to "go limp". :)

Tighten it up again and start again. The instructions for doing this are in the manual. Do you have a manual?

...and yes, I believe the free play should be 3/8 inch.

Sounds like Shell oil, using the term Ferguson 25 grey for recommending oil in Norway. A 25 in Norway would be the Frog ones, French I mean, sorry, and was not grey. Why couldn't they use the same term all over the planet ?
