Ferguson Tractors in Florida

I am again visiting the USA, this time near Tampa, Florida.

Having never seen a TO20 or TO30, is there anywhere close by Tampa that I may find one?

I am also driving to Orlando on August 29.

Thanks

If you get out west u can look at mine. I have a TO 30. I would even let u operate it w/box scraper. Jerry in Nevada.

Contact Al Hoyt at:
P.O. Box 396 . 6208 S.E. 54th Trail
Center Hill, FL 33514
Phone Number: 352-568-8166
He is near Tampa and has collection of several of the all gray Fergie"s. I am sure he would enjoy a visitor to show them off.

Bob,

I called the Hoyt's on you behalf, and they would be happy to have you stop by. They said to call (number as provided by jjinga) and make arrangements to make sure they are in the area on a given time and for directions. They live about 1.5 hours from downtown Tampa.

You can't do much better than Al's collection, as he is one of the major collectors here in the US.

You could also look on craigslist and visit the ones for sale. Why are you looking at 20's and 30's and not 35's with live pto?I'm just finishing a 35 here in mid state Georgia and haven't put it on the market yet. With the economy the way it is i may need it!!http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites

Wow! Overwhelming!

To explain, I am in Florida with my daughter for two weeks only. My daughter and son in law, who previously lived in Houston and now in Australia, have a house in St Petersburg, Florida which they must sell as my son in law had a brain tumor and his continuing ability to work is in doubt. No doubt many of you know when problems arise it is often Dads that must sort out the mess.

I looked up Al's address and whilst 77 miles travel would be nothing to me in Outback Australia, in the US it is daunting merely to cross the road as everyone drives on the wrong side of the road! My daughter hired a small Ford Focus. I may give Al a call today and try to drive there tomorrow (Sunday), preferably whilst everyone is at church and I have the road to myself.

Why not see a 35? I've owned a TEA20 for around 25 years, doesn't get used for much these days as I live in town, and I am only really interested in Grey Fergys. Never seen a Fergy with a Continental engine, so would be interested in seeing a TE20, TO20 or TO30 whilst I am here.

Thanks for all your help.

Wow,I wish everyone did go to church, there will be plenty of back sliders(sinners) on the road. Good luck with the house selling as the market everywhere is down.Sorry to hear about the son in law, I hope you get to enjoy some good old southern hospitality while your here.

So many transplanted Yankees in S. Florida.... might get lucky though.

My wife is 5th generation Floridian (genuine "cracker") and it's bad when the crackers are looking to move....

You guys better not pick on me, I might go to florida and start a crocidile farm, and feed them corny tractor owners. Hey at least Florida has a winter you can survive, water from the sky, sometimes too much I know.
But no ozzie should worry about driving, just keep an eye on slow moving obsticles.... yeah, some of the oldest ones are from mass... and remember roundabouts go the opposite way, that was my moments of concern in oz and the long black cloud. And until you get used to it... don't try to 'overtake' anything without planning it out, that's when you know you are in the other hemisphere...

Roundabouts are positively scarey. Turn right at a red light in Australia and it will cost you $250 fine - wait for the green here and the cars behind are blowing horns.

One thing stands out that has changed from previous visits to the USA - gone are the gutter-to-gutter gas guzzling V8s, to be replaced by the same family and compact cars we have at home. I guess the gas price is biting, eh?

But communication is something else again! Someone asked me yesterday if I was from Michigan, so I guess they have a weird accent too? I ordered a simple coffee at McDonald's and I must admit I have no idea what the attendant was saying or offering.

I am still working out when I can get to Al Hoyt's place due to the time I need resolving my daughter's issues. I may need to combine that visit with my trip to Orlando on August 29, as it seems to be in the same direction.

The weather is great. Not as hot as Summer at home, but certainly far more humid.

I would find a GPS, go thru the language choices, and find a cyber girl with a strine accent. Mine has 2 choices of pommie sheila voices...
Yep, cars are 'global' now, easier to judge clearances and performance.
Just order food by number, they like that aswell! US is like the UK, no one here speaks English anymore...
Nay bloody worries mate! She'll be right!

[i:2c92510964]"Hi Al, I hear you have a few Ferguson tractors?"

"Oh, yeah. Maybe around forty or fifty!"[/i:2c92510964]

I'm visiting Al this Sunday or Monday and will be very curious with what one does with 40 or 50 Fergies, including the one he bought new in 1950!

Just visited with Al and Gail back in July, he has a fine
collection, prepare to spend a few hours as he is glad to see
visitors!. I have a mate it OZ at the minute ,he was telling me about
the long drives he has to do,says you know when you are tired
driving when you swerve to miss a tree only to discover it is your
own air freshener!!!

I am driving up to Al's place very early Sunday, then on to Orlando as my daughter wants to visit Disney Land on Monday.

Yes, we are used to driving long distances in Australia. I used to think nothing of driving 500 miles over night to one of our branch offices, work all day and drive back over the next night, but I am getting too old to do that now and until I have cataract surgery, should not be driving at nights.

Ain't many trees to hit in the Outback, just miles and miles of flat, featureless grass lands. Problem is the kangaroos and emus - those hairy grass hoppers and big Aussie chooks can do a lot of damage, even with a bull bar. Last 'roo I hit a few months ago cost $1,900 to repair my Nissan Pathfinder, even with a front bull bar!

Visited Al and Gail Hoyt at their fam this morning. It would be an understatement to suggest I am flabergasted!!!!

Theirs is not a farm, it is a working history of Ferguson farm machinery!!!

Al and Gail (and the dog "PD" for "puppy dog") were very accommodating and made me very welcome. Al took time out from baling to show me through three massive barns of perhaps 50 Fergy tractors and dozens of implements. I think I have now seen for the first time, the full range of Fergies, including the TE20, a French built Fergy and the full range of US built Ferguson tractors.

There is almost nothing that guy doesn't know about Fergy's - but I was able to show him the casting date on his 1948 TE20, which he 't know about.

Anyone interested in Ferguson tractors really does need to see Al and Gail's collection!
