Cam gear and crank gear

There is tiny play between cam gear and crank gear, how tight should those gears mash together?

Fergy manual says .002 is good . Less is good too.
So how much is tiny?

I am not sure how to measure it, so I think I should replace both gears to be safe.

I had the same issue.. lots of play.. and I could
see a burr on the crank gear .. I pulled the cam
gear off . .and noticed the key was broken into 2
small pieces.. the key way on the crank was badly
worn.. Decided to scrap the tractor and sell it for
parts.
