F 40 paint colors.

My F40 that I just bought has what I think is (or was) red paint on all the cast parts .At least I thought it was red, but the cosmetic condition is not stellar! So I guess it might be red and not rust! The sheet metal is definately F40 tan, ,but the logo on the side looks silver or gray with the FERGUSON letters showing through as tan. Were they not supposed to be red? And I thought all the cast parts should be metallic gray or silver?Since Massey Harris and Ferguson were going through merger pains, perhaps the color schemes were going trough change also . Or perhaps it had been repainted sometime in its life, but it sure does not look like it! Any help would be great! Also am having trouble finding a service manual ( Not IT !) Any suggestions?

Red paint might be glyptol sealant. Meant to keep oil from seeping through porous cast iron parts.
eastwood carries it for one supplier source. $$
