I need to replace my Amperes Gauge on my TEA20-85. I believe the one now on the tractor is original and the dial shows the numbers -60 and +60 at either end. The new ones from this site show -30 and +30. Will it make a difference?

Thanks

I believe that is not orignal but a replacement by somebody that did not know what they were trying to do.

A 30-amp ammeter will be best with that generator.

You can tell a generator or alternator by measurements, at least from all I have had, A generator will be longer than it's diameter, the alternator is just the oposite. So try to give us the measurements of the housing, that is what a picture would give us to go on. I am familuar with the TO series for USA sales, not familuar with the TEA series for England so where the TO only had from factory a 6 volt system the TE being made for the english market may have had a 12 volt system and the guage readings says that is probable was a 12 volt and not a 6 volt like here in the USA familuar with. Is your battery now a 6 volt or 12 volt.

Chris, YT Support, removed the post number requirement several months ago, so that is not preventing anyone from posting pictures.

Orignal would have been the 30 and will give you a better reading if generator, 60 only if converted to 12 volts.

I have a 30 amp gauge on my TE-20 with an alternator. It comes close to if not pegging it when I first start it. No problem, though.

You cannot paste pictures into posts here. To post pictures look down the page a bit from the box where you type a reply, and you will see a bar that says ''Upload Photos/Videos''. Below that is a button that says ''Choose Files''. Click on that button to go to your device where you can search the files in your device (computer, tablet, phone) to find the picture you want post, select your picture, then click the ''Open'' button and the program will upload that picture to your post. There is a size limit of about 7 MB of pictures/video per post (not per thread). That can be one picture or the total of several pictures in a post. This is the same in Modern and Classic views. Some cell phone pictures need to be reduced before they will post. And sometimes it takes a bit for them to upload, so don't hurry the process and use the preview button to see that the picture(s) is there before hitting submit.

I believe the original was only 15 or 30 amps as those are more common generator outputs. 60-amp meters became more common with alternators which typically have higher outputs than generators. Do you have a generator or has it been converted to an alternator?

If youve posted enough times you can add pics to your posts. Im using the classic view mode and you can add images by selecting the chose files button under the upload photos box.
