TO 35 rear wheel

Just got a 1955 Ferguson TO35 to rework for our club (Maine Antique Tractor Club) Good shape for sitting in the woods for 15+ years. Got everything running, so on to the easier stuff. Both rear rims are eat up from calcium, and one wheel center is toast also. Question: When looking for a good used wheel, do the TO 20, 30 and 35 use the same ones?
Another issue is the shifter will not move to the 3rd 4th position. I won't go over far enough to engage the slide rail? Tried moving the slide rail with a pry bar through the fill hole, but no luck. Any ideas? Parts and repair manuals are on order. Anxious to see how it looks when it gets the new metallic green paint! This is my first Ferguson, so thanks for any input!

Rear wheel centers would fit from many other tractors such as TO20, TO30, F40, MH50/MF50. A lot of the Ford tractors starting with the 8N and up through the hundred series should also bolt up, but may have some cosmetic differences if that bothers you. I'm sure a lot of other tractor makes used these common wheel centers as well.

Chances are thegear cases are full of water, and thr shift rails are rusted. Once the oil is changed an some slings up to the shift rails it may free up.

Water gets in through a bad shift boot and the draft spring boot under the seat.

Best to get the water out before running an emulsfying it.

Thanks, Steve. Since we're going into winter and I'll be tearing things pretty well down for paint, think I'll pull the transmission cover to have a quick look see.

Drain the gear oil and you'll find a lot of water first.

The shifter detents and detent springs rust and lock up. You have to remove the steering tower to replace them.

+1 spend the $10 for all three boots.

Some use diesel fuel to wash out watery gear oil.

Watch the YouTube channel Bundy Bears Shed as he shows many Fergie repairs.

There was a mid-year trans gear set change to beef up the low gears, so check your s/n. Mine is an early '55 and when in the trans replacing water damaged bearings I installed the upgraded gear set. My family bought that tractor new and it was a hard working utility tractor always busy, the replaced gears showed spalling and fatigue wear and were just undersized so it was a good upgrade back then.

Google search for operating and service manuals pdf download as that helps.

Thanks for the response. Will be pulling the transmission cover off probably next week, I'll post what is found. I received the shop manual for the tractor, but was a bit disappointed in the lack of details. It think the parts manual that's coming will be of more value.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the picture. So I got the transmission cover off this morning and was pretty surprised at how easy the fix was. The shifter rail was stuck with rust. Soaked everything with PB Blaster, cleaned the detent springs and balls, a few taps with the hammer, moving the rail back and forth, and little by little it came loose. Glad it was that easy. Now to continue de-rusting everything and get ready for paint. Has the metallic green color. BTW, got the parts manual yesterday.
I appreciate all the feedback received.
