TO-20 Transmission Oil

After reading dozens and dozens of posts on what oil to use in a TO-20 transmission I am more confused than ever. So without starting an argument, what oil are you using in yours? Thanks for all replies.

After using mineral oil, GL1 or similar products for many years and having to completely drain the hydraulic system every year for the water that accumulated, mineral oil pulls in moisture, I swapped out to 10w30 like others here on the site. Any of the other motor oils will work too. Some have recommended 5w20 diesel oil. Ive tried that too, yes works fine doesnt pull in moisture. I just found having the same oil for engine and transmission simplifies my storage.

Hopefully that helped, let us know how you make out. Simple is usually good.

15w-40 diesel engine oil, unless you use it in cold weather, then go a lighter grade.

Synthetic if you don't mind the extra cost.

Keeping a good shifter boot in place and storing indoors will help keep the water out.

OEM spec was the same as for the FORD N-SERIES Tractors, BUT, the MC134D oil is no longer available, no longer made or supplied by CNH anymore. The tsc and NAPA SAE-90 is a GL1 oil. It will work fine but some claim cold weather hinders performance. I use these oils in my N's, live in Michigan, and have never had any issues with the cold affecting them. You let the tractor warm up a bit longer in cold weather don't you??? The consensus these days is to use a plain old UTF oil in the N and FERGUSON hydraulic systems. UTF is a GL4 type, better suited for colder climates allegedly. Your tractor, your call.
