Help I have a te20 Starter went out. To bad to be rebuilt. Have tryed two rplacements that are supposed to work. no luck. The old one has the post on the rear of the housibg. new one i get on side. All other measurements the same. 9 teeth . ring gear front of flywhell.
Old one part No. wilson 25519.

My old Wilson catalog says 25519 for TEA
20 with Standard Motors Engine.
25505 is for Continental Z120 in TE 20.
That is hand written note in my catalog
from long ago. I hope it is correct.

I m going through a similiar situation, only my Te has a delco remmy starter.. easier to get. My ring gear is on the back of the flywheel, I m going tomorrow and getting the bendix and hopefully rebuilding it.
 
My early TO has the ring gear on the backside of the flywheel too.
Sometimes the ring gear moves rearward and either locks up the engine or saws big grooves in the bell housing or both.
 
If you find a 6v one at a reasonable price, please post where you got it. I went through this a while back. My lucas starter grunts
just barely enough to get it started. Had it to a rebuilder and parts aren't available. I found a couple for $400+ but to
rich for my blood. Its still gruntin luckily.
 

There are 6/12 volt hybrid starters available on eBay now . They look modern and aren't suitable for a show tractor but they do work well .
Any Lucas's 12 volt starter can still be rebuilt , parts are available in the UK from Moss Triumph spares
. Old rebuilt starters are so much better than new replacements.
