Ferguson TO35 Temperature Gauge

Recently bought a 1957 TO35, and the temp gauge doesn t work. I ordered a new gauge, and got the old gauge out of the dash, but in trying to remove the sending probe, it broke off. Any advice on getting the probe out of the housing?

Also, I m reading online that there is confusion about which replacement gauge is the correct item. I ordered and received YT s part #104116 after calling the parts line for advice, but since then I have been told that is the incorrect part #, that the probe on that particular sending unit is too long to fit into the housing. Anybody know for certain what the correct replacement gauge would be? I have the gas engine.

Thank you.

I have a to35 with a Z134 > I tried 3 different probes until I found one that worked out of the box from external_link the part# is ABC1593 - TEMPERATURE GAUGE

As for getting the old probe out it might require to take apart the housing, water pump. if you can't drill it out and take it out from the bottom.

Here is a picture of the different probes.

Thanks all, much appreciated. I tried drilling it out, but hard to get at it, so I pulled off the thermostat housing and worked it loose from the inside out. Came right out. And I can confirm the part scoobieguy referenced above does indeed fit. Thanks again!
