My tractor was converted to 12volts
I took the old one to get it fixed needs
new amature as well as other parts the
repair man told me I'd be better off
getting a new one I found one on Amazon and
on eBay for around 132.00 I'm on a limited
budget disability so I was wondering how do
I know if the starter is the right one or
not?

I would investigate this 12 volt one ,

Is this the same starter??

The wife's TO-20 is a 6V model converted to 12V. I just never changed the starter. DC motors can run on a higher voltage, they just spin twice as fast. The secret to a long life is not cranking more than 30 seconds without a 2 minute rest and keeping the engine tuned up for the easier start. 80 hours since I swapped over and the 6V starter is still alive and working well. If you can find a less expensive used one, that might save you a buck or two.

The one you show from ebay fits the same applications as the one I referenced from this site I think it should work on TO30 because during model year 1955 when MF went to 12 volt on TO35 the Delco starter used the same drive as 6 volt. The 6 volt interchanged between TO20 TO30 and TO35 6 volt.. I can't say for certain the 12 volt starter you show will work but I think it will.

Try contacting your local automotive parts store and see if they have a rebuilt service, whether onsite or the ship out. Make sure they rebuild and not just swap out for a new one.

I got the starter everything seems the same except the old one I can get in and out without taking out the distributor. with the new one I have to take the distributor out..Idk why because it's exactly the same. Maybe it's because the old one is worn..
