Does anyone know where I can buy the gasket that goes on the bottom of a TO20 steering box? I got 2/3 of the old one but cant find new one online.

Try R&M Tractor supply in Magee MS 601-849-2141. I believe the part number you need is 181373m1??? They should have one. Wayne

You may have to make one. I like searching for parts and stuff and I couldnt find one either. You can buy gasket material online and also at
most automotive stores. Bring a piece of the original and the dimensions you need to the store. Or just use silicone for a modern fix.

If you get gasket material I can talk you through the easy way to make the gasket. Email me.

Is there a simple way of doing that job then? If your using permatex and making a gasket then the gear box wouldnt necessarily need to me completely removed.. correct? The reason I ask is that this is one of my least favorite jobs to do.

Find a piece of 'kraft' paper, last one I did was the packing paper used to ship some parts to me. cut a section slightly larger than the area to seal. Then go around with a light hammer and tap all the edges of the cast iron sealing area with the hammer as well as the bolt holes to cut through the paper. Remove the paper and either tear at the 'dotted line' or use scissors to cut around and free up the gasket. I smear heavy oil or grease on the paper gasket so it sticks to one of the parts and then assemble.

I may have made two of them for my TO35 steering unit to trans connection. No leaks.
