TO-30 temperature gauge

I'm considering getting a (another) TO-30. Looking over pictures the seller has posted I notice the dash as an ammeter and oil pressure gauge, but no engine temperature gauge. Were they 'optional'? Would you expect to find a knockout for one on the dash? Will there be a place to put the sensor unit in the engine that's currently plugged?

Not a big deal, but not something I've seen before.

It's a nice looking tractor but needs all four tires, and maybe one rear rim.

They didnt come with a Temp gauge and there isnt a knock out but a scribed area under the light switch for a gauge. My #1 TO30 had a
clock style hour meter that I was able to replace with one off eBay. When I was stripping another TO30 dash I found the scribed area under
layers of paint. It was very faint but there. So yes that area should be used for a gauge.

I don't know if there is a plugged hole on the engine. It should go into the
bottom of the lower half of the thermostat housing, a special seat and thread
machined into the housing.

If it's not there, you will have to find a housing, probably off a TO35. There
is no other place to attach it. Mounting it lower on the block will give a
false low reading.

This is where the sender is located on a TO 20. I think the TO 30 is the same. You can see the sender in the thermostat housing (light blue) and the coil wrapped tube leading to the gauge going to the right.
TO 20's didn't come with an ammeter, only an idiot light.

There is a slotted plug on the back of the head on both my TO20s.
I haven't removed it to see what runs out.

Is that for a sensor?
