Question for Ed H.-OH about Sherman backhoe on T030

Hi Ed,

I ran across some old postings about a Sherman backhoe you have on a T030. I've picked up a Sherman 54C and would be interested to see some detailed pics on how you modified yours to work without using the original subframe.

I've got the original subframe, but would like an alternative that would be easy to mount and dismount so I'd still be able to use the tractor for other 3 point duties.

Any detailed pics of how you reworked yours would be very much appreciated.

Reminds me of a Kubota B7500 I once had. It had the 3 point hitch and a back hoe. Come to find out, as I was in the process of selling it,
there is a sub frame available for it to make it a 4 point hitch for the back hoe. It seems there is a possibility of tearing open the rear
housing without the stronger mount.
My 40 hour L2501 has a 4 point mount.
Now you say your going to remove the subframe to mount it on the 3 point using a tractor that was never factory designed to use a back hoe
on. . . .
Well, I do have another rear end out in the yard when you rip your's off.
I should still have it for a few months more.

Paul, Hello, And thank you for your interest...My tractor is a to 35. And the backhoe is a 1954 sherman mod. B.. Made in Michigan by Wayne-
Roy...They Patented and made the first backhoe...A piece of history. .construction went from pick and shovel to operators....If you look at
the rear of the hoe setting on the ground you will see a draw bar tongue welded to the sub frame, That goes in the hitch under the pto ,and
is the lower mount, there is an eye at the top that hooks directly in the top link pin, Then you will see to sliding adjustable pipes that
go in the long pin on the back of the tractor below the top link, I have long hyd. lines from the tractor and can put pressure to it on the
ground and bring it up into place to connect to the tractor,3 pins and its mounted...I have watched my son digging stump roots with all 4
tires on the tractor off the ground and the tractor hanging off the backhoe...I can take better close ups if your interested..Hope this

Thanks so much for your reply! I certainly would appreciate some close ups when time permits for you, both of your modifications to the rear of the backhoe as well as the showing the attachment points when attached!

I have a Ford 850 with a loader that I'd like to mount mine to. Given how little it'll actually be used, and not for any major work, I just hate to tie the 850 up full time with the backhoe mounted to the subframe. I know if it's mounted using the subframe, it's a major effort to attach and detach.

Paul, Thank you for your reply, A lot of people don't bother....I have a 2000 ford, looked at it and you cannot connect to the top link as i
described, Fords top link is weak and it doesn't have the long pin under it like the ferguson..sorry....Ed

Thats a bummer Ed....didn't realize the Ferguson and Ford top links were set up differently. I'd still be interested in seeing some detailed pics sometime if its not too much trouble ..might be useful to someone else too.
