I have three TO-35s from 1955-1958 in the yard right now with the Z134 gasoline engine. Good tractors. I have an extra TO-35 Z134 engine that I got when I bought two of the tractors this summer so I could retrofit an old family TO-30. The TO-30s tended to get a lot of coolant in the oil leaks which ours has, even after a fresh rebuild to fix it (thought it might be a cracked block but that was not the issue). So if you've got a working TO-30 with the TO-35 motor that's good news for our future project.

Make sure you replace the shifter boots. $3 boots can save you big money and time splitting the tractor to replace water damaged bearings and locked up shifters. Just did that on one of them this last spring.

Check the gear oil for water contamination and replace if a problem.

Its a job but replace the three point hitch leveling piston rubber boot. Rain
gets into rear end very easily if its bad.

A few years ago, the wife had me pick up a Fergy TP-20 for her. It came with the low speed Howard combo and a Howard trans along with a Howard tiller. Curious about yours, what is the top speed? 15 or 25 MPH?

Thanks for the warning on the boots I already cover the mf-35(I have 2) shifters with 5 gallon buckets(because new boots leak to) this TO-30 is so nice I put it in
the garage

Honestly I do not know I was glad to have the undrerdrive portion but in standard gear it does 14 so OD would be near 30mph the hupp seems to be a nice unit

Standard (4th)gear with Fergy is about 8 MPH for as top speed, if memory serves. The Hupp with overdrive gives you either a 14.78 MPH or a 24.85 MPH top speed, if memory serves, dependent upon the model of Hupp overdrive unit you have. I have both of them, the higher option is currently soaking in a Home Depot bucket filed with oil. The lower option is inside her Fergy TO-20.
So, if the highest speed you have ever attained with your machine is about 14 MPH, you have the lower speed model Hupp Combo.
30 MPH might take a larger engine.
The later Hupps were no longer prone to hanging between ranges when shifting and had stronger input and output shafts, similar to the Sherman combo transmissions made in the same time.

Good to know. I'll check all mine (I have more than one TO35), thanks!
