I've read many of the forums over the past few years of how to identify the year of my tractor and this is what I've come up with:
Serial number on dash: 169599
Engine serial number: z134 623512 (assembled on Oct 13th, 1955) sent to factory on Oct 14th, 1955.
transmission housing number (F.3.5) => June 3rd, 1955
Hood has a single release knob, (not the 2 button kind) but in the parts manual it states that this hood did not replace the old one until serial number 176,341 (parts book page 186).
So from this info, I'm assuming this is a 1956 TO-35, probably bought sometime late 1955 or early 1956. Does this seem reasonable?
The only thing that seems to contract a bit is the hood issue. Maybe the front end got banged up and replace with another? Or could the parts book be off a bit with the serial number (176,341), or maybe this tractor got out of sequence and got a later hood at the factory? I've read stories from this forum stating that the frames and the engines were sometimes out of sequence by as much as 500 or so.
Any thoughts?
Billy
