OK,,IF I expect to get my TO20 running,,I'm gonna have to install an external oil filter as my latest purchase did not include the pieces necessary for the oil filter inside the oil pan. Not that I even wanted to follow that path as I've read a multitude of mostly negative comments right here and other tractor forums on this subject.!!
I've read many posts in The Archives especially a thread by a "GRITS" and another by "DAN" in NY. I have reached out to both these fellars but no response yet and hope they are still with us, just busy,,?
On GRIT's thread I think he used the oil pressure tap on right side of block for his supply to relocated filter then routed the discharge off the filter to a new port on valve cover. I "Think" he plugged the tube with the orifice at center main bearing,,,as he speaks about an orifice in outlet of new filter.
Now,,Mr Dan writes about machining a tap on oil pump body for his oil supply, then drills and taps two ports in engine block and routes pressurized oil to new filter outside of block ,,but then routes discharge off filter thru other new port in block and on to front main,,,,?
The easyist method would be to copy GRIT's method as these engines have lived perfectly fine with PARTIAL FILTRATION for many years and a few hundred more years sure ain't gonna hurt any of them, any time soon.
My one question for all the GURUS here is what to do with the tube with the orifice where the former oil filter WAS? Where will the oil go if this tube is plugged at the center main??????
OOOPS,,one more which oil filter to use?
PLEASE feel free to comment as I really want to settle this so I can close up this block and re-assemble the tractor.
