Looks like I need to replace the seal around the PTO shaft. Is that a big job ? Or should I replace the assy.? Thanks

The easy job is to replace the assembly. To replace the seal you need to remove the collar holing the bearing in place, replace the seal, and then heat the new collar and press it into place.

.

Here's the procedure.

You'll also need around 8 gallons of gear oil to refill the transmission and rear end.

Thanks Phil, I've read about that... however this one doesn't 'drip',
it runs out, to the lowest level of the shaft.!! ;(

I ordered new seals for both my and dads tractors and replaced them. The seals look different than the old types. Also, it is tricky getting the shafts out. I had to start prying with a paint scraper under the flange and work up to a pry bar before it slid out. Take it slow and easy. I would guess a 2 hour job and have not leaked 1 drop since from either tractor. Well worth the effort
