Sad times at my house,,,,,

Well,,,sad news at my house, as my Wife of 53 years passed after a long illness. She would not hear about going to a Nursing Home, so I was her care giver for the last 3 years. Her sister had put their Mother in a nursing home for her last 6 years and she hated it all the time she was in there, and that had a bearing on My wife's attitude on nursing homes.
I have been trying to stay busy these days and Lord knows, I got plenty of unfinished projects that need tending to,,,all in due time,,,,all in due time.
I've got a Candy Apple Red 1955 Belair HDTP in the garage that is bout 50% complete after a total rebuild down to the very last bolt and I want to finish this car right after I get the Ferguson TO20 I been stressing bout for the last 6 months with the dang cracked webs on the engine block.
Well, I finally fount a complete 1950 TO20 tractor with a good running engine that just needs the rear main seal replaced and hope to go get it this weekend. Soon as I get ONE of the TO20's running, I'm gonna call it GOOD for these tractors and head for that 55!! I'm gonna have to spend a few (or More) days getting all the stuff out of the 55 that has fount it's way in there in the years it's been hiding in the garage. Wish me luck,,,,,

Buggyboy, sorry to hear of your loss. My wife and I are heading to our 51st anniversary this November. We're both in reasonably good health, thank God.
I had a '55 Olds. that I rebuilt from the frame up years ago. Sold it several years ago. But enjoyed the project and the years of driving it.
Post a picture of your '55 when you get it done.

(quoted from post at 02:44:01 09/08/21) Sorry to hear that. It's gotta be one of the more difficult things we face as we get older.

YES,,it's Tough to have to adjust to life without your lifelong partner, because now you DO have time to think bout those things you could of done to make things easier and maybe better for her. I guess my crystal ball wasn't too good when I needed it to be.

I still have the old Ferguson to keep my attention going and am thinking bout what to use to remove the years of accumulated paint, and some that even looks like house paint !! I'm not too keen on sandblasting , so,, what do others use to remove old paint??

Well, a bit of an update on the Ferguson,,,I located a 1951 (I think) TO20 SN TO31348 and went and brought it home this past weekend. The PO had split it to replace the rear main seal as he said it was leaking bout a quart an hour,,,lol. Got the rear half set on blocks. I set the the front with the crankshaft looking up to better get to the seal and maybe get a quick look at the bearings,,,?? The PO swears the engine is perfect except for the bad oil leak. Can't figure why he removed the oil filter,,tho,,,and there may be some missing small parts to that oil filter arrangement.
After cleaning up around the rear crankshaft snout, I notice the part of the rear main that the seal sets on is recessed towards the engine a bit and prolly was reason for the oil leak as there is a definate difference in the two sealing areas!!
My question is this,,,Can the rear main be loosened and maybe shift it TOWARDS the center of engine so these two registers are lined up and FLAT to each other????
I haven't yet looked on this site for the parts I'm gonna need like oil pan gasket, oil filter and exhaust manifold gasket and hopefully, all the small oil filter parts are still there.
