Neutral Safety Switch

My TO-30 Ferguson needs a new neutral safety switch, but be darned if I can find one that fits the TO-30. YT has some, but the TO-30 is not listed as acceptable for any that I can see. Can someone
with electrical knowledge straighten me out? Many thanks.

Parts BOOK has same #'s for both Tractors..

I saw that but my mechanic seems to think that's not the same thing as a neutral safety switch, and it doesn't look the same.

TO20 and 30 has no neutral safety switch since it's impossible to start the tractor in gear if the original wiring and switches are in place. You must move the shifter to the S (start) position, which means it's not in gear. The S position is directly above the R (reverse) position in the shift pattern.

The part listed on the thread is correct. All it is is an upside down starter switch. The neutral safety is that the only way to start the Ferguson is by using the shifter to the start position which causes the switch to activate only when out of gear. Hence neutral safety. The part that was listed is absolutely the correct one.

The switch listed is the starter switch.

Originally it did not have a starter solenoid switch. If it has one now, someone has added it.

Very common to see that done as the original starter switch was troublesome.

If you want to keep the solenoid, you can use the listed switch as a neutral switch by simply wiring the switch to actuate the solenoid. Doing it that way will let the solenoid carry the heavy starter current, and all the starter switch does is actuate the solenoid, making everything work and last better, and most importantly, give it the neutral safety feature.

Who knows, might save a life someday!

Thank you all for bearing with me. I have attached (hopefully) a photo of the switch that I need and indeed it appears you all are right.
Many thanks for the help. We are a couple of septuagenarians fumbling in the dark!

Yup thats it an upside down start switch. Having to move the shift lever to start the tractor is your neutral safety. You should be able to go to an automotive store to pick one up. The only caveat is to get the placement of the mounting plate correct so the shifter start works. Put it together with the four mounting bolts loose enough to move the plate and snugg down when you find where the shifter engages the starter, then tighten. Done.

The Neutral Safety Switch per se refers to the switch on the TO-35. The TO-30 and 20 have starter switches, but nothing that is formally called a neutral safety switch.
