1954 Ferguson T 30

Ferguson 30 hydraulics, hydraulics will not lower with tractor not running? Also with a Woods 5 grooming mower, cannot raise all the way due PTO shaft hitting front of mower deck. Cannot find correct position on lift lever, either raises to high or not lift at all?
How do we repair?
Thanks
Ron

The quick and simple answer, there is no position control. The Ferguson system was about depth control for farming and furrows. You can fashion a
control to give you what you want, search for the Zane Thang. A member here came up with it and I believe you can find info in the archives.

The best advice I can give you is to get the factory service manual for the Ferguson TO/TE
series tractors. they give you a system description and tell you how to make the adjustments on
the three point system. You can find them on ebay, etc and are about $20. You do know the the
pto must be engaged for the tree point hitch to work don't you?

The three point lowers by gravity, it is not powered down. It also only has draft control not
position control. You either have to add a position control device or use limiting chains to
hold the proper cutting position for your mower. The three point geometry and the position of
the pto shaft are fixed so if the drive shaft hits the mower when you lift it, the only thing
you can do is lower the mower or limit the motion of the of the three point so it does not hit
when you lift it.

If the 3 point won't drop when the tractor is off, the control valve is sticking or the
linkage is not configured correctly.

Depending on the Continent you reside on....
This was $$$$$'s well spent...
All three point attachment implements stay exactly as per required. NEVER creeps up..NEVER creeps down..

Thanks for the information.
Lots of info about Zane Thang?
Who is the contact person to purchase the Zane Thang?
Ron

Zane Sherman of Talledega, AL passed away several years ago. To my knowledge the Zane Thang is no longer available. However, Red Rock
sells a comparable product using the same principle. I believe the price is a little over $100. You can google Red Rock and find it.
There are plans to make you own on the FENA website.
