Hi
Clarification please, in my manual it
states that governor springs fitted to
Tea20 were of 15 coils. I have not
come across any on any Tea20. They all
seem to be fitted with the 26 coil
spring. What was the reason behind the
two different springs??

The TEA and TE have different engines. The TEA uses a flyweight governor. If they used the TE spring on a TEA, they must have been satisfied with how it worked. The strength of a coil spring depends on the wire diameter, the coil diameter, and the number of coils. Overstretching the spring could make it unable to do it's job.

Hi
Well because it bugs me, if the manual states it as so then it must be so.
It's my curiosity keeps me awake at
nights, no other reason

Design change occurred sometime around the introduction of the 12 volt 85mm engine . Smaller springs were used for the 80mm , 6 volt engines .
This was discussed in depth by the very knowledgeable but sadly no longer member ' John UK ' . He did have a series of notes he shared detailing overall length , size and the number of coils of each .
Smaller springs are no longer available from suppliers , longer ones are .

Hi Charles. Thanks for this
explanation which assures me I have
the right parts fitted. Great stuff
and especially that you have retained
the information passed onto you.
Cheers
