I have a 1953 Ferguson TEA 20, and I was wondering what kind of oil I should use. I know that I should use 15w40, but I don't know if it is ok to use oil labeled as "Mineral Oil", Diesel Oil or Semi / full synthetic oil. What is the best to use and what should I stay away from?

Normal petrol car engine oil , the sort that you buy at the auto shop is fine , for the gear box / transmission and engine as well as the front wheel hubs and air filter . 15/40 is fine or 20/50 if the engine is a little worn .
Single weight mono oils are expensive and really won't do anything extra for the engine other than allow sludge to accumulate .

I have 1960 dexta and sawbench powered by
Petter ph1 diesel which is handcrank start and both
start and run better using Fuchs HDX 30 also there
are no leaks ...

For the engine, 15w 40 diesel oil is the best match for the old flat tappet engine. Modern spark
engine oils are designed for roller cams and emission systems.

You can use the same 15w 40 in the transmission. Originally they used 90w mineral oil, which works
in warm weather, but slows the hydraulics when cold.

Synthetic or synthetic blend is your choice. Probably not necessary, but if you want it, it is
technologically advanced over straight petroleum oil, just not any real advantage with your
application. Some say it is more stable in extreme heat or cold. I would not recommend relying on
it for extending change intervals, the old engines are inefficient and accumulate crankcase
deposits. The transmission has a reputation of collecting water, especially if stored outside.
