What should the compression pressure be on a Ferguson FE-35 With 23c diesel engine? Compression pressure readings on my tractor are #1 350psi ; # 2 350psi ; #3 375psi ; #4 360psi. I have an engine miss with lots of white smoke, loosing each individual injector line while running did not locate the problem. the injectors all blow off at 1950psi with no leaks, the injection pump has been rebuilt and rechecked, all air is out of the system and the timing is set to factory specs.
Thanks for your help. Mike

. . . and then you took your non contact temp gun to each cylinder on the exhaust manifold after the engine had run 21 minutes to normal operating temperature to find. . what?
The cold cylinder was #3? Then you have a problem, I suspect, with coolant getting into #3 cylinder. Want to verify that even more?
Run that cylinder to TDC compression and with the glow plug out put compressed air into the cylinder to see if the air bubbles show up in the radiator. They did???!!!
Cool beans. You found the bad cylinder.
Not #3?
Was it 2?, 4? Oh! #1.
oops.

Thanks for the reply Bruce, This tractor ran excellent, I sent the CAV injection pump for a reseal because of fuel leaks, after returning the pump the tractor sent up serious smoke signals and fuel running down the exhaust pipe. I sent the pump back and it just returned, the tractor does run a little better with less smoke but still has a lot of white smoke from the exhaust with what sounds like an engine miss. I will test the exhaust manifold temperature tomorrow, my non contact temp battery is dead. I'll let you know what I find. Thanks Mike
