Thanks to everyone for their replies on my t30 tractor. Unfortunately it is still doing the same thing. I took the carb. apart and cleaned it along with pulling the fuel bowl and cleaning the filter and blowing out the gas line. I also checked the oil bath air cleaner and replaced the coil. It still starts right up and runs for 5 or so minutes and dies. When it runs under load it has reduced power although the engine seems to be running at normal rpms. After it dies it starts back up and does the same thing all over again. The spark plugs and points look fine. Would a bad condenser cause this? Any more ideas? Thanks

Runs 5 minutes and dies.
Plugged fuel tank cap.
Lack of power from lack of fuel.
Did you check that one?
Remove cap and blow into either the top or bottom.

Did you check the float setting in the carb? Here is the IT manual setup.

There should be a fine mesh screen at the inlet to the carburetor. These can get plugged up and give you the same symptoms. Remove the elbow at the carburetor inlet and take a look.

Question for you
During the time you say it runs good (5 min)
can you get a full throttle from it .and does it seem to miss..

Have you checked fuel flow through the carburetor? Remove the plug at the bottom of the carburetor and see if it will fill a pint jar in 2 minutes or so.
To answer your question about a condenser, yes I've heard they can cause your trouble, but I've never had it happen. Have you tried bypassing the ignition switch just to rule that out.

Yes. I removed the drain plug on the carb as soon as it died and gas poured out. Ialso checked the float adjustment and made sure there were no pin holes in the float. When it dies it is under load or on full throttle, It will idle fine and keep running until I give it more gas ,then it dies. It seems like the engine is flooding out.

Jim, Just got back home from traveling. I checked the flow rate directly from gas line and it is 3/4 of an ounce per minute.

3/4 ounce per minute suggests obstruction in the system - you've cleaned the carb (removed the brass elbow and examined that screen?) and find the screen at the tank clean. It's time to unscrew the settling bowl assembly from the tank and check for scale obstructing the inlet to the bowl assembly.
