1/2 barrel of mystery oil was made before or after your truck?
Chances are the oil rating might not be snuff for your truck if it is not the same age or newer than your truck.
Might do good in your tractor though. . . .
 
If the engine is fresh and it holds 'some' oil pressure at hot idle, and you are in a cool climate,
it will probably work.

But if you loose oil pressure at idle, it might be risky.

Using 15w 40 is more along the lines for a loose old engine.
 
15-40 was not around when I had mt Fergy, if remember correctly used nothing less than 10-40 and think I used 20-50 at times. This was with a freshly ground crank and new bearings. That 5-30 I would not try to use unless where you are it never gets above freezing.
