We're now ready to buy a head gasket kit, water pump, ignition kit and carb kit. For some, or all, of this I need to know exactly what engine is in this 1952 TEA 20 SN 265038 tractor.
My specific concern is the SC in the block serial number. I was not expecting to find a C in the number.
My Ferguson Service Manual includes these statements Engines serial no. S1E to S8995E, fitted with Lucas distributor model D3A4 Lucas Service No. 40132. Serial number S8996E onwards with Model D3A4 Lucas Service No. 40146.
SN is stamped into the engine block to the right of the coil between it and the oil filler tube is SC22094E.
Some numbers cast with the block behind the carb appear to be: 0A12361 space 300608. Behind the alternate mounting plate is a cast number which may be 18 2 1. On the differential plate are the numbers 16 4 2 with the number 4 cast underneath the above cast numbers. Need verification based upon best info that:
1) Engine is 85mm bore.
2) Engine is later than SN S8996E.
