measurements from bell housing to,,,,

OK,,what I want to do is fabricate a
"spacer" so I can bolt the front axle to bell housing to be able to move the TO20 around. It has been setting in same place since I took the engine out for repairs TOOooo many months ago,,,,LOL., and there have been numerous times I needed that piece of real estate but had to make do other plans because of not being able to move the tractor.
Does anybody have the measurement from the axle bolt to the face of the bell housing? I plan to use 2"x2"X1/4" angle iron which should be stout enough.

(quoted from post at 15:44:45 07/11/21) You mean a trailer jack with a wheel on it, secured to whatever?
Where is the engine at?

Hey Bruce,,the engine is still on engine stand and will be on there until I satisfy myself the welding repairs are good to re-assemble it. At this time my wife's health issues take a big chunk of my time,,so the ferguson has to take second fiddle to her needs.
I re-hooked the arms to the front axle and also the steering arms but in order to be able to push the tractor around,,there has to be a "Something" to take the place of the engine to stiffen the front end,,,,but YOU already knew that,,,didn't you,,Bruce??
I figure this has been done by other members many times,,SOooo,,if anybody gots a sketch or dwg that wants to help ,,it would be most appreciated.

Can't you just measure the engine?

I agree with Bruce, get a cheap trailer tongue jack with a swivel wheel, attach it to the bell housing.

The front axle assembly is not that heavy, it can be drug around, pushed up against the front of the tractor. Take less room that way.

Peace be with you.
The engine is on the stand. So your engine is close enough that you can measure it and should be able to determine what it is that you are in search of.
Yes, a trailer jack with a swivel wheel can be fabricated easier to a tractor and the rear end of the machine can then be moved about to suit your needs.
Right up the side of the trans housing would work better as you could then raise and lower the tail assembly for engine alignment during installation.
The front axle with the wheels and tires off is easy enough to move about.
I see you just desire to spend more time fabricating a larger piece of a one time usage item.
The trailer jack could be used again in the future, unless you plan to pull the engine out again.

If you have the radius rods and steering drag links attached to the front axe and to the transmissino houseing, you should be able to support the tractor so it would move by running a heavy strap or chain around each radius rod and under the bell housing. With no engine the bell housing will obviously drop, rotating around the radius rod balls at the foot pegs. By supporting the bell housing from the radius rods it should remain level. The radius rodes are forked at the axle end and will keep it stable. Make sure the chain or strap can't slip out of place.

Well,, Steve and Bruce,,I was really liking ya'lls idea on the trailer jack as I picked up an almost new one that had fallen out of someone's trk on the highway bout 3-4 months ago,,!!LOL. The aluminum coating was scratched a bit but the rest is like brand new,,,,,
Since I had already installed the radius rods and steering rods,,,AND the tires,,,,,I'm liking Dan's idea on lashing the bell housing up to the radius rods with a good sized strap
Hey Dan,,,I'm really liking that custom radiator shroud you gots on your tractor,,,,I'll wager that thing setting in the optimum position draws as much air as possible thru the radiator,,!!
Great job!!
OH,,and THANKS to Steve and Bruce and Dan and Bruce,,,Ya'll are A-OK,,,!!

(quoted from post at 01:25:16 07/13/21) Use trailer wheeled jack all the time

Well,,THANK YOU, Kirk!! That right there is just too easy,,there "may" be times when I "might" be accused of over thinking something simple,,,,,it's a dang good thing these forums with great people are here to keep people like me ,,,,,in line,,
Thanks again, (gulp)

Yeah, Wondergem,,,that done it for sure,,,!! The engineer in me tends to wanna address every little detail,,,
NOW,,,to remember where I placed that dang trailer jack,,,,,,
