New User Ferguson TE20 No Spark

Hi all looks like a lot of great info on here and looking forward to learning. I have a Ferg TE20 that has been converted to 12V and has the Pertronix Ignition conversion as well.
Tractor ran fine for several months occasional misfire but then one day simply died. No Spark at the plugs. Changed coil since and still no spark.

Thoughts on where to start is appreciated.

I had the Pertronix electronic ignition on my TO30. Worked great until one day it died as I was driving along. Just stopped dead in the field.

I put the points back in it, and it fired right up. So, that is at least a possibility for you to examine.

Fortunately I had saved the old points and condenser when I put in the Pertronix. And doubly fortunately, I had taken a picture before I had done the change so I could easily remind myself exactly how it all went back in. It was running again in a couple of minutes (plus walking time from the field).

Do you have a test light? That's the simplest and least expensive tester, an incandescent test
light.

With the ignition on, should have voltage on the + terminal of the ignition coil.

While cranking the engine, should have a flashing light on the - terminal of the coil.

Take the distributor cap off, be sure the shaft is turning while cranking the engine. Look over the
wiring to the Pertronix unit.

If you have spark at the coil but not at the plugs, the cap and/or rotor may be bad or wet.

It is rare for the Pertronix unit to fail. Usually when one fails it is because the wrong coil or
coil/resistor combo. Do you know how yours is set up, a true 12v, no resistor required coil, or a
6v coil with a 1 1/2 ohm resistor? It is essential to have this right or the Pertronix and coil
will overheat and fail, or it will have weak spark. You can't always go by what the box says or the
counter person sells you. Go by the actual part number or information on the coil itself.
