Greetings all! This is my first post. My
father inherited a well used Ferguson TO35
when he bought his farm in 1995. He
enjoyed using the tractor, and as a Baby
Boomer and Vietnam Vet, was very practical
and well....let's say thrifty.
If he couldn't fix it with baling wire,
binder twine, or duct tape, it was too
expensive to fix, or too broken.
After his death last April (The 15th. I'm
certain he planned it just to avoid paying
taxes.), I inherited the farm. As we both
enjoyed working together around his place
(65 acres) I fully intend on keeping it in
the same condition he kept it.
However, I fail to possess the skill and
originality that he had in engineering and
field expediency, therefore I have
chosen to use store bought or
manufacturer specified parts in order to
keep this cool little tractor going.
I have rebuilt quite a bit of it using the
great services provided by Steiner
Tractor, and here at Yesterday's Tractors.
I have gleaned lots of useful information
just by browsing this forum and reading
the posts from many of the knowledgeable
and experienced members here.
However, I have finally encountered a
problem I can't seem to find the answer to
by searching this forum, or the internet.
-> I have drained the drive system
completely, and have purchased 7 gallons
of NAPA GL-1 (I believe my TO-35 takes 6
gallons, but I bought an extra gallon in
case of spills, or other unforseen
problems)...
While the case is empty, I figured this
would be an excellent opportunity to
replace the PTO Selector cover gasket that
has a small leak. There is also a small
leak from around the selector lever shift,
as well.
I cannot find a replacement oil seal for
the selector lever shift ANYWHERE. I have
searched here in the forums, parts
manuals, and numerous antique tractor
parts websites, Google....you name it.
The only part number I have located is for
a simple rubber O-ring type seal. This
is not the metal spring gasket type oil
seal that I see in my PTO selector
housing.
I would very much appreciate any
assistance regarding the identification,
part number, and purchase of the PTO
selector lever shaft seal for Pop's
Ferguson TO-35. Thanks in advance!
